Scam Warning!

Throttler Motorcycle Magazine wants to warn our users about a current scam that has been occurring.

A "buyer", often from outside the US, contacts you regarding a listed ad, offering your asking price and wants to pay with a cashier's check. The buyer asks if its okay to write the check for an amount greater than the asking price and then asks you to write a personal check back for the difference. Since cashier's checks are ususally as good as cash, the seller agrees. However in this case, the cashier's check is phony, and you have just been scammed out of however much your personal check was for.

The most recent scam attempts have all come in through FasterEmail email addresses (i.e. - MyName@fasteremail.com). Each of these emails tries to give you (the seller) more than your asking price and mentions that an associate or shipping agent will be by to pick up the bike after receiving the payment. Some of the recent fake buyers have used the names 'Bartholomew Fletcher' and 'Steven Walters'.
